Students learn how to start-up and operate a business while inschool, thus turning their learning into earning. Those who manage and operate a small business willbring their products directly to the consumer via the local marketplace orpresent venture to potential investors for financing. Concepts and skills arereinforced by a strong emphasis on hands-on experiences. Applications tosociety, individuals, and the utilization of technology are included. Thecontext of this course is in conjunction with the Network for TeachingEntrepreneurship. This course includes a broad series of lessons andactivities that offer a variety of modalities for ultimate studentengagement and content retention. Each unit contains a series oflessons that include introduction of content, virtual demonstration of thatcontent, and repeated opportunity to practice that content, along with a quizper lesson, exam per unit, and final exam at the end of the course.Welcome to Entrepreneurship! The paper is an introductory course intended toprovide students with knowledge of entrepreneurship and the vital role playedby entrepreneurs in the global economy. To achieve this, this course focuses onthe creation of new ventures, the skills necessary for success in anentrepreneurial venture, and factors associated with new venture success. Entrepreneurshipis interdisciplinary so this paper provides students with the opportunity todraw together elements of other papers such as finance, economics, management,marketing, production and so forth, showing how these must fit together tocreate a whole organization, rather than viewing these as a series of unrelatedcomponents. This paper also mixes theory with practice. Students will bechallenged to apply principles, concepts and frameworks to real worldsituations, particularly on assignments including the business plan and onexams. This paper will help students determine if they want to start their ownventures or if they prefer to operate as corporate entrepreneurs working withinan existing organization.
